Leathercrafting just like any other skill, requires not only practise but also the correct techniques upon which to properly build those skills.
At East Coast Leather we provide an ongoing series of hands-on workshops that covers many different projects.
Ever wonder what goes into making a luxury leather belt?
Together we’ll explore the techniques of making a quality leather belt.
This five-hour workshop will focus on the materials necessary to make a custom belt using the correct tools and how to use them. You will learn basic leathercrafting techniques on how to cut leather, measure and make a belt to fit, bevel, burnish, skive (reduce thickness) attach a buckle and keeper, set hardware and dress the leather edges, to a professional finish and go home with a belt that will last.
This is a great course for people who have wanted to try their hands at creating your own luxury leather goods but don’t know how to start or are looking to have a better foundation.
Along the way you will also gain some insight into working with leather, its structure and layers, find out the difference between full-grain and genuine leather.
A fun and practical workshop suitable for beginners, or anyone in need of a fancy new belt! Learn from a master of the craft Cherryl McIntyre, who has many years of experience.
Bring along an old belt to take a measurement or waist or hip measurement.
